Parent-Child & Family Therapy

  • Development of more fulfilling parent-child and family relationships

For most of us, our families are our greatest source of support, comfort and love. Unfortunately, it is this very same fact that can also make our families the single greatest source of pain, grief and stress in our lives. There are a variety of issues and circumstances that can lead families into crisis. Whether it's illness, divorce or inappropriate relationship boundaries, family therapy can be an effective way to help resolve threatening issues in a healthy and safe manner.

In my parent-child and family therapy sessions, I seek to bring a sense of balance to relationships. Though my individual treatment plan varies according to each family's unique needs and challenges, I generally work to open up new lines of communication within the family unit, thereby improving the way family members interact with each other and resolve conflicts.

Supportive Therapy

In some cases, family therapy is implemented in response or addition to a separate treatment plan for one or more family members who may be dealing with mental illness or substance abuse. While it is certainly not a substitution for individual therapy or other necessary medical treatments, family therapy can be a very effective way to aid in the recovery or treatment of the patient in crisis, as well as assist family members in coping with the issue at hand.
