As psychotherapy professionals have long known, new research has proven that there is an undeniable link between the health and wellness of the mind and the general health and well-being of the body. The negative impact of stress on physical and mental health has also been well documented and, as such, necessitates a conscious and consistent management effort to achieve a truly holistic state of optimal health. Throughout my career as a clinical psychologist, I have helped countless patients achieve total mind and body wellness through therapeutic stress management. Utilizing effective and proven techniques like breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation and mindfulness training, I work with patients to facilitate the integration of the mind and body to relieve unhealthy stress levels and redirect energy toward more useful and nourishing ends. In my practice, I have also found that these same stress management techniques are also excellent tools in the treatment of patients with excessive anxiety, anger and fear management issues. In all cases, I recommend patients also practice good eating habits and maintain a regular exercise routine to create a truly effective and comprehensive stress management plan. |
